Discovery of a water tank (water dock) with a separate water inlet in the underground settlement of Abarkoh

According to the public relations report of the General Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province, Hamid Mushtaqian announced this news on Sunday, August 23: “Regarding the presence of small stone chambers in the historical houses of Abarkoh, which are located under the stone bed and show a special function. They have passed away, the investigation and research in this regard started and led to the discovery of an underground settlement in November of last year.”
The head of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Abarkoh city explained: “Given the possibility that there are more examples of this underground complex in other localities and perhaps in the entire historical context of Abarkoh, the research has continued, which led to the discovery of a beautiful waterway. “From the carved stones, a water tank (water reservoir) with a separate water inlet has been discovered in this underground settlement.”
Mushtaqian said: “This tank, which is in the form of a shallow chamber at a depth lower than the water channel, was created to store water, and the water entry path into the tank is built through a separate hole from the water access and collection path.”
He pointed out that in the continuation of excavations in the underground settlement complex of Abarkoh, more water storage tanks will be revealed, among the benefits of creating this tank is to purify, load and cool water for drinking in hot summer weather.
