The end of the season of restoration of Ashkazar historical castle
The head of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Ashkazar city announced the completion of the restoration of a part of the historical Ashkazar castle.
According to the public relations report of the General Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province, Mehdi Jamalian announced this news on Monday, August 24, 1401: “The area of this building is more than 2700 square meters, this building (castle) is rectangular in shape and has four towers in “The quadrangle (side) of the building, one tower of which has been restored in the past years and one in this phase.”
The head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Ashkazar city continued: “According to the evidence left inside the castle, the mansions inside this building were two-story, and now some of these mansions have been destroyed.”
Jamalian pointed out that this castle had a military and defensive aspect in the past, and added: “This building was built with clay and layer materials and with mud mortar.”
He called the most important restoration measures in this phase of the building to be the reconstruction and strengthening of one of the castle towers, including shafting, brick foundation and brick walls, execution of brick patterns and decorations, and stitching and stitching of gaps.
This building, which according to the architectural style and materials used, belongs to the late Islamic period (Afsharieh-Zandiyeh), has been registered in the list of national monuments of the country in 2009 under number 30503.
