Restoration of the oldest Zilvi in the country in the Zilvi Museum
The head of the museum group of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd province announced the restoration of the country’s oldest zilvi in the Meybod Zilvi Museum.
According to the public relations report of the General Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province, Elaha Khakbaz Alvandian announced this news on Wednesday, August 26, saying: “The oldest zilvi in the country belongs to Jame Meibod Mosque dated 808 AH. It is kept in Zilvi Meibod Museum located in Shah Abbasi Caravanserai of this city.
The head of the museum group of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province continued: “In line with the protection and restoration programs of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts and this General Directorate this year, the restoration of this valuable work was placed in the priorities of the protection and restoration of works of the province.”
Khakbaz Alvandian said: “This valuable work is the only three-color zil in Iran, white, blue and red, which measures 740 x 314 cm, with twenty-four carpet patterns, in two rows of 12 pieces, corresponding to the carpet of the Meybod Jame Mosque porch.”
He said about the preservation and restoration process of this historical zilvi: “Documentation and damage mapping, cleaning and cleaning according to basic methods, supporting the missing parts, repairing the missing and torn parts by sewing and dozing, and stabilizing the taropod of the loosened parts, design, modification “The construction and installation of the bases and support of the showcase of the exhibition place is the most important measures in the implementation of its restoration.”
The head of the Museums Group of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province added: “The final stages of the protection and restoration of this work are underway, and after the restoration is completed, the methods of protection and restoration will be presented in a specialized meeting.”
This Zilo has been restored by specialists in the restoration of historical and cultural monuments under the supervision of the General Directorate of Museums of the country and the restoration expert of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province.
